YOUR SUPPORT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE MOST NEEDY

WHY ORPHANS,VULNERABLE AND DISABLED PEOPLE?

An orphan is one who has lost one or both parents. We refer one who lost one parent as  half orphan and total orphan, one who has lost both parents.

Uganda has 2.5 million orphans; 1.4 millions of them are orphaned as a result of AIDS. And accidents are also common causes of orphaned children in Uganda living in dismal conditions and faces a lot of challenges for example child labour, challenges for being HIV positive, academic challenges, poverty and sexual abuse.

These orphans are catered for by extended families that struggle financially, by child-headed households, the lucky ones are adopted by individuals who feel like growing their families through adoption but a few people adopt leaving a number of children still lacking.

These children need love and protection. Usually orphans living on their own face a number of psychosocial challenges than other orphans. We are happy to be supporting 40 children in our orphanage.

Disability is a physical or mental condition that limits a person’s movement, senses or activities.

According to the national population census of 2014, the population of People With Disabilities in Uganda stood at 4.4 millions.

These people face numerous challenges which call for immediate action for example

Community misconception and stigma where these groups of persons are marginalized by community and families leading to increased discrimination,

Inferiority complex where these group of people underestimate themselves before others in society, this is visible in self-pity, loss of esteem and never report any violation to their rights.

School related challenges, the enrollment of children with disabilities in pre-primary, primary and secondary is very low only about 9 percent attend school and 6 percent of these children complete primary.
